The fact that Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK offered an undergraduate degree in computational data science was a big contributing factor in my decision to transfer to Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK, as there are very few undergraduate data science programs. Many other universities often associate it with graduate work, so the fact that I am able to do that kind of work as an undergraduate was really exciting.

Research opportunities in computational data science

At Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK, computational data science majors participate in research with faculty as early as their first year, something usually reserved for graduate students at other institutions. You'll design and conduct your own research project based on your individual interests and goals.

The list of possible research projects is as varied as our students. For example, picture yourself:

  • Using statistical and machine learning to predict the spread of disease
  • Building and programming a self-driving miniature car
  • Using machine learning to predict in-store sales
  • Investigating how to influence online Major League Baseball fan engagement
  • Using natural language processing to generate new Dungeons & Dragons spells

During your research process, you’ll collaborate with scientists at major research institutions, publish your research in academic journals, and present your work at local, regional, and national conferences.
