Professors Peterson and Spaulding Publish New Research

Professor Jillian Peterson and assistant professor Jamie Spaulding collaborated with Dr. James Densley (Metro State University) and David Reidman (K-12 School Shooting Database) to track and code over 1,000 school shooting threats in the United States pre and post-pandemic. Fifteen different Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK criminology students worked on coding these threats over the past two years. Their research found that the most common response to school shooting threats was to arrest and criminally change the student involved, which raises concerns for prevention.
