The article was part of Professor Suda Ishida’s Study Away course on Environmental News Reporting from Thailand in January 2023. Students who participated in this course also received mentorship from local Thai journalists, an independent photojournalist Lauren Decicca, New York Times foreign correspondent Richard Paddock and Round Earth Media program director Mary Stucky.
