Associate Professor of Mathematics Jasper Weinburd has received two honors at the conclusion of his first year at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK.
He has been invited to speak at a biannual in Portland, Ore. from May 14-18. He will speak on Applications of Dynamical Systems. My talk will be about the mathematical modeling of swarms of locusts and how we can inform strategies that prevent agricultural destruction. The technical details can be found in the conference abstract here:
Also, his research group has been funded for a one-week retreat/workshop to continue its work together through in San Jose, CA. Our mini-grant covers our travel and lodging for a fully funded week of research on their campus from May 22-26.
