David Berg Passes

It is with profound sadness that we must inform you of the sudden passing of Associate Professor David Berg on Tuesday, March 21. He was 63.

Dave’s particular areas of interest were globalization, how firms react in a global economy and how firms from different international backgrounds prepare for global competition.  He taught classes in management, strategic management and international business at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He was a chair in the School of Business and also served on the University Strategic Planning Committee and numerous HSB committees.

He earned his PhD from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, his Master’s in International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina and his BA in mathematics from St. Olaf College. He joined Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK’s faculty in 2009.

Everyone who knew Dave would tell you that in addition to being a wonderful professor, he had a heart of gold. His kind spirit and decency will be sorely missed.

Dave loved leading student trips to Asia and exposing students to cultures other than their own. He also was an avid traveler.

We extend our deepest condolences to Dave’s husband Mark. He is also survived by his mother Shirley, his brother Douglas, his sister Deborah (Scott) Beyer, and his niece Anna Beyer.

No memorial service has been set at this time, so in lieu of flowers, Dave’s family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society.
