Zacc Harris is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK where he teaches Jazz Guitar, Jazz Bass, and Jazz Composition. He holds a BA in Music from Southern Illinois University and is an accomplished and award winning performer in the Twin Cities jazz scene. He is co-leader of the Atlantis Quartet, named Best Jazz Artist by both the City Pages and Star Tribune, and also leads Zacc Harris Group, Monk In Motian, Vital Organ, and a host of trios.
Students taking Jazz Guitar, Bass, or Composition from Professor Harris will learn fundamental techniques with regards to scales, chord construction, and music theory. There is an emphasis on actually playing music, and understanding how to improvise. Even if jazz isn't the student's ultimate style of choice, the knowledge and technique gained from its study will help in all music styles.
"Teach someone to play a song, and they can play that song. Teach someone to improvise, and they can play anything."
