Nur Mood is the Assistant Director of Social Justice Programs and Strategic Relations, MENA Region at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK. In this role, he supports Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK’s dedication to the value of social justice, equity, and inclusion. In the 2018 midterm election, Nur Led Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK to achieve the highest student-voter participation rate, of all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. In addition, he sustains and extends Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK’s co-curricular commitment to social justice through developing student leadership, best practices in Catalyst Alternative Spring Break programming. He also has international responsibilities with the President's strategic relations regarding the recruitment and retention of students from the Middle East and North Africa. In addition, Nur supervises Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK AmeriCorps VISTA Staff. He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. He has previously lived in Cairo Egypt before immigrating to the United States in 2004. Nur has traveled to Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Jamaica, and Southeast Asia.

As professional staff member at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK had the opportunity to serve as a FYSem colleague for five years. He also served as Study Away colleague for three J-terms (in Jamaica, 14’, Hawaii, 19’ and Thailand, 20’).

Nur earned his BA in Applied Economics with a Minor in Finance from The College of Saint Scholastica, Duluth and received his MBA degree and TEFL Certificate at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK. Nur was selected as the 2020 John Wesley Trustee Staff Award recipient. Nur is also the 2015 recipient of the Outstanding Staff Award from the Hedgeman Center for Student Diversity Initiatives at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK. In 2016, he was inducted and became a lifetime member of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Honor Society. He has served on the Student Affairs Professional Development & Diversity Committees. He’s currently on the Diversity Initiatives Steering Committee (DISC). Nur leads Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK Votes working group. In addition, Nur has served on the Bloomington Police Department's Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC) since 2014.
