
Kathryn Geurts
Kathryn Linn Geurts earned her PhD in Anthropology and African Studies in 1998 from the University of Pennsylvania. She then held a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Research position at the University of Chicago in the Department of Comparative Human Development (1998-2000); and a second post-doctoral position at the School for Advanced Research on the Human Experience in Santa Fe, New Mexico (2000-2001). She is the author of Culture and the Senses: Bodily Ways of Knowing in an African Community (University of California Press, 2002). She was recently awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship for research on the Disability Rights Movement in Ghana (2009-2010).
