Illiana Cantu Delgado serves as the Director of Public Safety at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK. Her responsibilities are to the overall operations of the Department of Public Safety with particular focus on internal program management. Including plan, manage and coordinate campus wide security operations. Illiana’s commitment is to the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK community; to ensure the safety, security, and protection of students, employees, and visitors of Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK and the facilities and property within its campus.
Along with her 20 years of security experience, Illiana is a retired Police Dispatcher. She has managed emergency response during the 2007 35W bridge collapse, lead dispatcher for the 2008 Republican National Convention, initiated Mobile command for the 2013 Lillydale Mudslide and was a lead dispatcher for SWAT. After retiring she transitioned into Healthcare security. She managed and implemented emergency staffing and critical response during the Civil Unrest of 2020.
Illiana’s strengths are in de-escalation, team building, performance management and risk assessment.
Illiana grew up on Saint Paul’s West Side. Her father is from Monterrey, Mexico. Her mother is Chicana and also grew up on the West Side. She is fluent in Spanish, attended school in Monterrey from age 11 to 15. Prior to graduating high school; Illiana won a scholarship to the University of MN – Duluth, becoming the first in her family to attend college and graduate.
