Associate Vice President of Student Affairs/Associate Dean of Students

As Associate Vice President/Associate Dean of Students, Carlos assists with the overall operation of the Dean of Students Office and responds to student, parent and community concerns and issues. He selects, supervises, trains, and evaluates department leadership for The Hedgeman Center for Student Diversity Initiatives and Programs, Residential Life, and the office of Student Activities and Leadership Development. He also provides program administration/coordination for FYSEM Campus Colleagues, Parent Programs, Military Students, First Generation Student Programs, the Pathways to Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK pre-orientation program, and student and university traditions.

Additionally, along with Professor Colleen Bell, Carlos developed and co-taught the university’s first intergroup dialogue course on race (Spring 2010, 2012, 2015, 2019).

Carlos serves on several campus committees, including the Enrollment and Student Success Committee, the Committee on Learning Outcomes Assessment, Student Affairs Professional Development, Student Affairs Marketing and Branding, Student Affairs Recognition Processes and Events, Early Alerts, Diversity Initiatives Standing Committee, First Year Student Advisory Committee, Crisis Management Response Team, and others.

Carlos Sneed received his bachelor’s degree in African and Afro-American Studies and psychology from Washington University (MO) and his master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Bowling Green State University (OH). In addition to his years at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK, Carlos also served in positions at Washington University and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
